Philae sends back!

+++ The Rosetta mission is a milestone in the history of space travel. The landing of the minilab Philae, which is about the size of a refrigerator, on the comet Tschuri (67P / CG) was the moon landing of the 21st century so far. Billion kilometers from the Earth away since then Rosetta orbits the comet and forwards the results of Philae's work to DLR / ESA.

In the meantime, however, it had fallen silent because Philae did not get enough sunlight. So followed a hibernation so that he could gather strength to send again data back home. With success, because about 3 weeks ago succeeded the small outpost of mankind again to reactivate. He sent collected data and then fell silent again. For two weeks, the signals kept silent.

Now he sends more exciting news from Tschuri. He also responds to commands from the space control center of ESA in Darmstadt. I expect that traces of life are present on every still so sparse chunks, so also on Tschuri. This would support the theory of the origin of the distance.

So live long and successful small Philae and phone home regularly! +++

Venus Jupiter Conjunction

+++ From: 21.45 clock until around 22.00 clock an interesting astronomical event takes place.

As you may have seen in recent days, "2 stars" are particularly bright to see in the sky. The luminosity is so strong that these can be observed well even in daylight or at dusk. This is not about stars, but to our nearest neighbors, Venus (about 80 million kilometers distance from Earth) and the gas giant Jupiter (about 900 million kilometers away from Earth), the greatest planet in our solar system.

Now today between 9:45 p.m. and 10 p.m. our two neighbors are in a row. The small Venus "overtake" her big "brother" Jupiter. Astronomers are speaking here of a conjunction.
The visual overlap of the elliptical orbits arises at about 10 p.m. the impression, that a single over bright star has risen in the firmament. Actually, the two planets pull about a billion kilometers away from each their tracks.

A similar conjunction may be historically led back to the first decade BC. In the annals of history, the former three-conjunction was remembered as the Star of Bethlehem. Thus, looking at the sky this evening is also a look into the past. +++

Flight 4U9525

+++ The Club of Deduction would like to express to the families of victims of flight 4U9525 our compassion.

Unfortunately, there will never be 100% safe aircraft. But we see in the tragedy of today further impetus to advance the development of the Universal Intelligent Flight Protector, short UIFP. Unfortunately, people saving systems rarely receive attention, if not the loss of life leads to entertaining.

The Club of deduction would here refer to working with airlines such as Lufthansa, but there are often limited interest in an actual implementation. We hope that this attitude will change as soon as possible, for the safety of all passengers and crews themselves.

Flying is generally one of the safest types of travel, but everyone loss of life reminded that even the most secure system is not perfect and needs to be continuously improved. We should never be satisfied with what is and not rest until no one has to lose his life anymore. This is of course necessary for every technique! +++

#SoFi - Tip watch the solar eclipse without protective goggles

+++ TIP - Do not look at the sun without protective goggles. If you have no goggles, you can use your smartphone as a reflective surface. Stand with your back to the sun. It is even better to enable the ego-cam (inner camera for Selfies) here. So you can safely watch the spectacle. +++
